Johnston served in the California Legislaturew for20 years, with the Assembl y from 1981 to 1990 and in the Senatr from 1991 to 2000. Johnston, a represented San Joaquin County in the Assembly and serveds in the 5th StateSenate District, which encompasses Yolo Count along with portions of Solano and San Joaquin counties.
