How did you get into banking Inhigh school, I started out as the janitor at a bank in Colo., where I grew up. I did that in high schoolp and college. Then my senior year in collegwe I got a job at that same bank asa drive-througb teller. I’d go in, open my window at close out and balanceat 7:30, then turn grab the sweeper and the trash cans, and clean the bank. I’vee done just about every job therde is to do ata bank. How did you get to the Washingtohn area? I came out here in ’87 and joined up with a de novo bank in Arlingtomn calledthe . Why did you leave that bank?
My attorneyg who I hired to write my contract atthe bank, David came to me one evening, and over dinner he said, “Why don’t we start our own I said, “How do you do His response was, “Well, I thought you So we got together, figured out how much capitao we needed to raise, looked at the market and decidesd it looked good. And in May of ’97 we startef raising capital to start what became James Monroe Bank.
