Barber was named head of "healthymagination," a GE programn focused on improving health care for more people atreducede cost, by GE chairman and CEO Jeffret Immelt. Barber, 48, is a 27-year veterah of GE and since 2005 has served as chief technolog y officer forGE Healthcare. He joined GE in 1982 and has held a varietyg of roles of increasing responsibility within GE In 2001, Barber was general manager for Componentw Engineering, and from 2002 to 2005 he was the generap manager for Global Components Operationsx for GE Healthcare, which has significany operations in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and Barber was a 1994 winner of The Business Journal'x Forty Under 40 award, which recognizes youngv Milwaukee-area executives making a difference in theidr professions and community.
